SIP panel advantages

SIP panels ensure a fast and simple process of building your house. Major advantages of SIP technology

  • Thermal insulation panels. ‘Canadian’ houses are referred to as the warmest. Experts note that the same lowest factor of energy loss requires at least a 2.5 brick wall, while a standard SIP panel is 17 cm.
  • Excellent sound insulation. SIP panels will leave the noise outside the walls of your homeLight general construction. The average weight of a SIP panel is 15-20 kg, depending on the thickness of the panel, meanwhile the weight of the same area of brickwork may amount to as much as half a tonne. For this reason, SIP houses do not need expensive and powerful foundation
  • Construction terms. Building a foundation takes 6-8 days. The production of the SIP panels for a 120-150 m2 house takes 12-14 days. The assembly of such a house on your land takes 10-12 days. The assembly of the house itself takes 1 month. The roofing, depending on its complexity, may take 6-12 days. Façade finishing takes 14-28 days, depending on the finishing materials. Power, plumbing and sewage – 14-20 days. All of these works take place at the same time as the façade finishing. It takes 14-20 days to install drywall and prepare the walls for tiling or wallpaper. Your house will be complete and ready for interior design in 2.5-3 since the beginning of the works!

SIP panel building assembly does not involve any components that can freeze, which means that construction works can take place regardless of the season. We assemble houses all year round with exceptions when air temperature drops below -10°C.

SIP panels make a great alternative for other construction materials both in terms of construction, which is simple, and price, which starts at 25 €/m2. Because of their light weight, panels are easy to transport and unload, thus saving on transportation services. The assembly of the panels does not require any special skills or equipment – both a small wing or a two-storey house will require a minimum amount of tools.

SIP panels are known for their resistance to environmental factors, such as fungus or mould. SIP panels are an excellent choice for all types of buildings and ensuring the safety of your health and environment, since they don’t leave any construction waste or materials that can cause allergies.

The longevity of your house will be guaranteed by particularly sturdy SIP panel structures. This is due to the special technology of the adhesive used to glue OSB panels with foam, which is tested and approved by professionals worldwide.

SIP panels are made of time-tested materials, such as wood and foam. If used correctly, these materials will serve 50-70 years. Also note that SIP panels are protected both on the outside (façade finishing) and on the inside (drywall and plaster). This is why the panels do not have any direct contact with the environment and its factors. You can rest assured that such house will serve you for a 100 years and more.

90% of the OSB panel consists of wood, making many clients question SIP panel fire resistance qualities. We can guarantee that the panels are coated with a special flame retardant, protecting wooden structures from fire, so there’s no need to worry. This solution increases the fire resistance of the panels 7 times, compared to other wood. Even on open fire, polystyrene panels do not allow the fire to spread to the surfaces of adjacent panels, creating a kind of a self-extinguishing effect.

From ecological perspective, the material is not harmful to humans and the amount of the volatile substances of the adhesive has no negative impact on health and complies with all applicable standards.

Why do we recommend SIP panels?

Nowadays, the concept of a modern residential house refers to a house that is not only sturdy and durable, but also economic in terms of energy costs, warm, can maintain a comfortable indoor climate both during summer and the cold season. Regardless of the future house size, the construction pace and price has a huge impact on the choice of the construction technology. These criteria are easy to juggle using SIP panels.

Everyone want the most economical solution for their homes, shifting the construction material market towards products that ensure energy efficiency. SIP panels leave hot air outside during the summer season and maintain the inside warm during the cold season.

SIP is a multi-layer construction product, covered with OSB sheets on both sides with foam in between. The layers are bonded using polyurethane adhesive and pressed together under 18 t. OSB panels are made of several layers of wood chips, moulded together with resin. This material has been slowly pushing out DSP panels, which are slightly more flexible in terms of durability. Foam plastic, better known as polystyrene foam, is used as insulation. This material is easy to produce and, being a poor conductor for heat, is perfect for insulating buildings.

Since SIP panels are very large, the number of seams in the building is minimal.

The production of panels with integrated thermal insulation started circa 1930 in the USA and they are still used world-wide. The first SIP building was built in the USA by the famous American architect Frank Lloyd Wright. SIP panels can be used not only for residential housing, but also commercial and public buildings. Gradually, this technology grew popular in Canada, Russia and numerous European countries. NovaSip panels have been used for the opera theatre in Oslo and Saxo bank on Copenhagen.

SIP buildings are often referred to as ‘Canadian’ buildings, because it was namely Canada that they came from to our market.

Although used for several decades, this technology is not that popular in Lithuania. Consumers still prefer brick buildings even despite their numerous disadvantages. On the other hand, SIP panels make an excellent choice if you need the best quality, price and time ratio.

SIP panel characteristics

SIP panels are used for buildings that save both energy and heat all over the world.

SIP (Structural Insulated Panels) is a multi-layer product, made of two impregnated OSB panels, sandwiching a polystyrene foam EPS 70 (80,100) or neopor 70 (80, 100) in between, using single-component polyurethane adhesive.
